Ramon L. Guizar

Ramon L. Guizar was admitted to the bar in 1989. His practice includes real property, land use and development, and general corporate and business law. He holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, its highest peer rating. His real property practice includes real property sales, financing, exchanges, leasing, land use, and water issues. His business practice includes entity formation, business sales, buy-sell agreements, and general business and corporate work.

Mr. Guizar is a member of the Ventura County Bar Association (serving as the Chair of the Real Property Section 1993-2007, 2010-2014) and the State Bar of California (belonging to the real property and business sections of these associations). He previously held a California real estate broker’s license and was an affiliate member of the Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors.

Mr. Guizar is also active in charitable organizations. He served for a number of years as a director of the American Cancer Society, Ventura County Division and later, the Greater Ventura Division. His participation in the American Cancer Society included Co- Chair of the Making Strides event (1994), serving for a number of years as a Relay for Life committee member and as a Daffodil Days community liaison.

An avid and former state-ranked tennis player, Mr. Guizar served as Tennis Tournament Chairman for the Saint John’s Regional Medical Center/St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital Golf/Tennis Classic (1994-1996), committee member for the Oxnard Boys and Girls Club Tennis Tournament, and committee member for the Annual Ventura County Bar Association Tennis Tournament. A father of two active boys, Mr. Guizar has also coached numerous AYSO soccer teams, a Camarillo YMCA basketball team and a Camarillo Pony Baseball Association baseball team.

Mr. Guizar attended University of California Santa Barbara for two years as a Regents Scholar (majoring in electrical engineering and then economics) before obtaining his B.S. in Business Administration (finance) from the University of Southern California. He received his law degree from Harvard University. He is the co-author of “Fleet Factors Update: Participation in Management” (Commercial Lending Review, Winter 1990-91, 41).

Mr. Guizar met his wife, Loesje, while playing tennis at the former Cabrillo Racquet Club in Somis. In the early 1990s, they achieved a number three ranking in Open Mixed Doubles in Southern California. Mr. Guizar grew up in Santa Paula and currently lives in Camarillo with his wife. In his spare time, Mr. Guizar enjoys playing tennis, soccer, and guitar.
