John M. Leverett

John Leverett is an associate attorney with Lowthorp Richards.  Originally from Costa Mesa, California, he now lives in Calabasas.

John graduated with Honors from Rhodes College in Memphis Tennessee, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, summa cum laude, with a minor in Music.  He received his Juris Doctor from the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, with a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine’s Straus Institute.  He joined the California State Bar in 2024 and has been working at Lowthorp Richards ever since.

After graduating from college, John spent nine months volunteering at Veterans Legal Institute, a pro bono public interest firm for veterans.  There, John saw the positive impact just one courageous attorney could have on the lives of his clients.  He also learned that diligent, compassionate representation does more than solve legal problems – it empowers clients to rise to the challenge and keep fighting.  Inspired to be of service to individuals in need, John went to law school, interning in the summers with immigration and tax law solo practitioners.  One of John’s fondest law school memories was working directly with LA County small-claims litigants to settle their disputes through Pepperdine’s hands-on mediation clinic.

Under the mentorship of Lowthorp Richards’ senior attorneys, John works primarily in civil litigation, gathering experience with personal injury, breaches of contract, and construction defects.  Because Lowthorp Richards has such a diverse practice, John has also had the opportunity to work on estate planning, employment law, business law, and agricultural law matters.

In his spare time, John practices guitar, plays video games, and enjoys discussing movies and TV in exhaustive detail.
